On January 1st, 2024, Florida passed a new law stating that drivers must move over for all disabled vehicles that display emergency flares and signage, hazard lights, or that have one or more persons visibly present when stopped.
The previous House Bill 425 required drivers to move over a lane for tow trucks, first responders, and other emergency vehicles. Now the “Move Over” law will include all disabled vehicles. Drivers will now have to move over a lane or slow down to 20 mph under the speed limit for any driver stranded on the side of the road with any emergency signal on.
