MY STORY
Jacob “Jake” Best is an attorney at Sunshine State Law Firm, P.A. in the Winter Park office, where he represents individuals in a wide range of negligence matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, and premises liability. Known for his unwavering work ethic and client-centered advocacy, Jake is deeply committed to pursuing accountability and just results against large corporations and insurers.
A native of Orlando, Florida, Jake earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida. He then attended Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, graduating magna cum laude in the top 3% of his class. Along the way he earned a certificate of high honors in Advocacy and Litigation, received five book awards for exemplary academic performance, served as a Research Assistant for Interim Dean Samuel Kan, and spent three consecutive semesters as a Dean’s Study Fellow, helping fellow law students master Constitutional Law, Contract Law, and Property Law.

Jake built a strong foundation in trial advocacy early on, prosecuting cases as a Certified Legal Intern with the Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit and clerking for the Honorable Judge Eric DuBois of the Ninth Judicial Circuit during his second and third years of law school. Combining his background prosecuting criminal cases with his experience in personal injury law, Jake brings a unique perspective and a prosecutor’s preparation to every case, and he considers it a privilege to fight tirelessly for clients during the most difficult moments of their lives.

Outside of the office, Jake is a talented multi-instrumentalist who writes original music and performs regularly throughout Central Florida. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Amy, traveling, attending live concerts, golfing, and catching Orlando Magic games.
